Authorship disputed: The work names no author. Book 1 was long printed among Origen's works as the Philosophumena; after books 4–10 were found in a manuscript from Mount Athos (published 1851), it was assigned to Hippolytus, the usual view today, though some scholars ascribe it to another Roman writer of the same circle. Books 2 and 3 are lost, and book 4 lacks its beginning.

Summary: Jesus stayed faithful; Naas had him crucified, but he left Eden's body on the cross and ascended.

Καὶ ὑπήκουσε τῷ ἀγγέλῳ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἰπών, ὅτι κύριε ποιήσω πάντα, καὶ ἐκήρυξεν. Ὑποσῦραι οὖν ὁ Νάας καὶ τοῦτον ἠθέλησε... πιστὸς γὰρ ἔμεινε τῷ Βαρούχ. Ὀργισθεὶς οὖν ὁ Νάας, ὅτι αὐτὸν ὑποσῦραι οὐκ ἠδυνήθη, ἐποίησεν αὐτὸν σταυρωθῆναι. Ὁ δὲ καταλιπὼν τὸ σῶμα τῆς Ἐδὲμ πρὸς τὸ ξύλον, ἀνέβη πρὸς τὸν ἀγαθόν.

English · Claude translation

And Jesus obeyed the angel, saying, “Lord, I will do all things,” and he preached. Naas, then, wished to draw him aside too, … for he remained faithful to Baruch. So Naas, angered that he could not draw him aside, had him crucified. But he, leaving the body of Eden on the tree, went up to the Good one.
