“τοσοῦτον δὲ ἀποδέουσι “τοῦ νεκρὸν ἐγείραι, καθὼς ὁ κύριος ἤγειρε καὶ “ἀπόστολοι διὰ προσευχῆς, καὶ ἐν τῇ ἀδελφότητι “πολλάκις, διὰ τὸ ἀναγκαῖον τῆς κατὰ τόπον ἐκκλησίας πάσης αἰτησαμένης μετὰ νηστείας καὶ λιτανείας πολλῆς, ἐπέστρεψε τὸ πνεῦμα τοῦ τετελευτηκότος, καὶ ἐχαρίσθη ὁ ἄνθρωπος ταῖς εὐχαῖς τῶν ἁγίων.’’

“So far are they from raising the dead, as the Lord raised them and the apostles through prayer, and as often in the brotherhood, when necessary, the whole church in a place asked with much fasting and supplication, the spirit of the dead man returned, and the man was granted to the prayers of the saints.”
