ἔνα δὲ τοῖς βουλομένοις τὰ “κατὰ Ἀλέξανδρον ᾖ γνώριμα, κέκριται ὑπὸ Αἰμιλίου “Φροντίνου ἀνθυπάτου ἐν Ἐφέσω, οὐ διὰ τὸ ὄνομα, ‘ἀλλὰ διʼ ἃς ἐτόλμησε λῃστείας, ὢν ἤδη παραβάτης· εἶτα ἐπιψευσάμενος τῷ ὀνόματι τοῦ κυρίου ἀπολέ- “λυταὶ, πλανήσας τοὺς ἐκεῖ πιστούς· καὶ ἡ ἰδία πα- ‘ροικία αὐτὸν, ὅθεν ἦν, οὐκ ἐδέξατο, διὰ τὸ “αὐτὸν λῃστήν. καὶ οἱ θέλοντες μαθεῖν τὰ κατʼ αὐ- “τὸν ἔχουσι τὸ τῆς Ἀσίας δημόσιον ἀρχεῖον.

So that those who wish may know about Alexander: he was tried by Aemilius Frontinus, proconsul at Ephesus, not for the Name but for the robberies he dared, being already an apostate.
