Εἴη δʼ ἂν καὶ ἡ ὁμόνοια τῶν πολλῶν ἀπὸ τῶν τριῶν ἀριθμουμένη μεθʼ ὧν ὁ κύριος, ἡ μία ἐκκλησία, ὁ εἷς ἄνθρωπος, τὸ γένος τὸ ἕν. ἢ μή τι μετὰ μὲν τοῦ ἑνὸς τοῦ Ἰουδαίου ὁ κύριος νομοθετῶν ἦν, προφητεύων δὲ ἤδη καὶ τὸν Ἱερεμίαν ἀποστέλλων εἰς Βαβυλῶνα, ἀλλὰ καὶ τοὺς ἐξ ἐθνῶν διὰ τῆς προφητείας καλῶν, συνῆγε λαοὺς τοὺς δύο, τρίτος δὲ ἦν ἐκ τῶν δυεῖν κτιζόμενος εἷς εἰς καινὸν ἄνθρωπον, ᾧ δὴ ἐμπεριπατεῖ τε καὶ κατοικεῖ ἐν αὐτῇ τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ; νόμος τε ὁμοῦ καὶ προφῆται σὺν καὶ τῷ εὐαγγελίῳ ἐν ὀνόματι Χριστοῦ εἰς μίαν συνάγονται γνῶσιν. οὐκοῦν οἱ διὰ μῖσος μὴ γαμοῦντες ἢ διʼ ἐπιθυμίαν ἀδιαφόρως τῇ σαρκὶ καταχρώμενοι οὐκ ἐν ἀριθμῷ τῶν σῳζομένων ἐκείνων μεθʼ ὧν ὁ κύριος.

The concord of the many, counted from the three with whom the Lord is, would also be the one church, the one man, the one race. Or was not the Lord with the one, the Jew, when he gave the law; but when he was already prophesying and sending Jeremiah to Babylon, and also calling those from the Gentiles through prophecy, he gathered the two peoples; and the third was the one being created from the two into one new man, in whom he walks and dwells, in the church itself? The law and the prophets, together with the gospel, are gathered in the name of Christ into one knowledge. So those who do not marry out of hatred, or who use the flesh indifferently out of desire, are not in the number of those saved with whom the Lord is.
