Μετὰ τὴν τοῦ θανάτου τοίνυν βασιλείαν μεγάλην μὲν καὶ εὐπρόσωπον τὴν ἐπαγγελίαν πεποιημένην. οὐδὲν δὲ ἧττον διακονίαν θανάτου γεγενημένην. πάσης ἀπειπούσης ἀρχῆς καὶ θεότητος ὁ μέγας ἀγωνιστὴς Ἰησοῦς [Χριστὸς] ἐν ἑαυτῷ δυνάμει τὴν ἐκκλησίαν ἀναλαβών. τὸ ἐκλεκτὸν καὶ τὸ κλητόν, τὸ μὲν παρὰ τῆς τεκούσης τὸ πνευματικόν, τὸ δὲ ἐκ τῆς οἰκονομίας τὸ ψυχικόν. [ὃ] ἀνέσωσεν καὶ ἀνήνεγκεν ἅπερ ἀνέλαβεν, καὶ διʼ αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ τούτοις ὁμοούσια.

After the reign of death, then, which had made a great and attractive promise but had become no less a ministry of death, when every principality and divinity had given up, Jesus, the great champion, taking up the church into himself in power, the elect and the called, the spiritual from the one who bore it, the psychic from the divine plan, saved and bore up what he had taken up, and through them what is of the same substance with them.
