About this work

Author
Polychronius of Apamea
Attribution
authentic · Scholia excerpted in a catena on Daniel and ascribed there to Polychronius, bishop of Apamea; Mai prints them from Vatican manuscripts. Only excerpts survive (the prologue and parts of the commentary are lost); other catena fragments of his commentaries on Job, Ezekiel and other books are not in the edition used here.
Standing

Date
ca. 400-430 (approximate) · Polychronius was bishop of Apamea in 427 (Theodoret) and had died by 431; the commentary's date is not known.

Reference system
chapter.n, where chapter is the chapter of Daniel (13 = Susanna) and n is the number of the scholion within that chapter in Mai's order; the verse each scholion comments on (printed by Mai as a Greek letter) is not recorded because the OCR of these letters is unreliable
