Refutation of All Heresies 9.12.3

Authorship disputed: The work names no author. Book 1 was long printed among Origen's works as the Philosophumena; after books 4–10 were found in a manuscript from Mount Athos (published 1851), it was assigned to Hippolytus, the usual view today, though some scholars ascribe it to another Roman writer of the same circle. Books 2 and 3 are lost, and book 4 lacks its beginning.

Ὁ δὲ ἐπιστὰς κατὰ τὸν λιμένα ἐπειρᾶτο ἐπὶ τὸ πλοῖον ὁρμᾶν κατὰ [τὰ] μεμηνυμένα· τοῦτο δὲ ἦν ἑστὸς ἐν μέσῳ τῷ λιμένι. Τοῦ δὲ πορθμέως βραδύνοντος, ἰδὼν πόρρωθεν ὁ Κάλλιστος τὸν δεσπότην, ὢν ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ καὶ γνοὺς ἑαυτὸν συνειλῆφθαι, ἠφείδησε τοῦ ζῆν, καὶ ἔσχατα ταῦτα λογισάμενος ἔρριψεν ἑαυτὸν εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν.

He, coming to the harbor, tried to hurry to the ship, according to [what] had been reported; it was standing in the middle of the harbor.
