Refutation of All Heresies 5.26.22
Authorship disputed: The work names no author. Book 1 was long printed among Origen's works as the Philosophumena; after books 4–10 were found in a manuscript from Mount Athos (published 1851), it was assigned to Hippolytus, the usual view today, though some scholars ascribe it to another Roman writer of the same circle. Books 2 and 3 are lost, and book 4 lacks its beginning.
Summary: Baruch tells Adam to obey Eden's angels except Naas, the lawless tree of knowledge.

Baruch, then, came and stood in the middle of the angels of Eden, that is, in the middle of paradise (for the angels, in the middle of whom he stood, are paradise), and commanded the man to eat for food of every tree in paradise, but not to eat of the [tree of] knowing good and evil, which is Naas; that is, to obey the other eleven angels of Eden, for the eleven have passions but not lawlessness, whereas Naas had lawlessness. For he approached
