ἤδη γέ τοι σχεδὸν τῆς παρὰ τοῖς πλείστοις ἀποψυχούσης προσδοκίας, ἀθρόως καθʼ ὁδὸν ἔτι σχεδὸν τὴν πορείαν ἔν τισι χώραις διανυόντων τῶν τὴν προκειμένην γραφὴν καθʼ ἡμῶν διακονουμένων, ὁ τῆς ἰδίας ἐκκλησίας ὑπέρμαχος θεὸς, μονονουχὶ τὴν τοῦ τυράννου καθʼ ἡμῶν ἐπιστομίζων μεγαλαυχίαν, τὴν ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν οὐράνιον αὐτοῦ συμμαχίαν ἐπεδείκνυτο.

But when hope had almost died out among most, suddenly, while those charged with the document against us had scarcely finished their journey in some regions, God, the champion of his own church, as if stopping the tyrant's boasting against us, showed his heavenly alliance on our behalf.
