εἶτʼ ἐπὶ τέλει τῆς ἐπι- “στολῆς ταῦτʼ ἐπιλέγουσιν· ἠναγκάσθημεν οὖν, ἀν- “τιτασσόμενον αὐτὸν τῷ θεῷ καὶ μὴ εἴκοντα ἐκ- “κηρύξαντες, ἕτερον ἀντʼ αὐτοῦ τῇ καθολικῇ ἐκκλη- “σίᾳ καταστῆσαι ἐπίσκοπον, θεοῦ προνοίᾳ, ὡς “πεπείσμεθα, τὸν τοῦ μακαρίου Δημητριανοῦ καὶ “ἐπιφανῶς προστάντος πρὸ τούτου τῆς αὐτῆς παροικίας υἱὸν Δόμνον, ἅπασι τοῖς πρέπουσιν ἐπι- “σκόπῳ καλοῖς κεκοσμημένον· ἐδηλώσαμέν τε ὑμῖν “ὅπως τούτῳ γράφητε, καὶ τὰ παρὰ τούτου κοινω- “νικὰ δέχησθε γράμματα. τῷ δὲ Ἀρτεμᾷ οὗτος ἐπι “στελλέτω, καὶ οἱ τὰ Ἀρτεμᾶ φρονοῦντες τούτῳ “κοινωνείτωσαν.”

Then at the end of the letter they add: “We were compelled, therefore, having excommunicated him, since he sets himself against God and does not yield, to appoint another bishop in his place for the catholic church, by the providence of God, as we are persuaded: Domnus, the son of the blessed Demetrianus, who presided with distinction over the same community before him, adorned with all the good qualities fitting a bishop. We have informed you so that you may write to him and receive letters of communion from him. But let Paul write to Artemas, and let those who think as Artemas does hold communion with him.”
