διὸ καὶ πρότερον κοινῇ ἐσθῆτι χρώμενος, ἀποδυσάμενος καὶ φιλόσοφον ἀναλαβὼν σχῆμα, μέχρι τοῦ δεῦρο τηρεῖ, ‘βιβλία τε Ἑλλήνων κατὰ δύναμιν οὐ παύεται φιλολογῶν.” καὶ ταῦτα μὲν αὐτῷ περὶ τῆς Ἑλληνικῆς ἀσκήσεως ἀπολογουμένῳ εἴρηται.

English · Claude translation

Hence, though he formerly wore ordinary dress, he put it off and took up the philosopher's garb, which he keeps to this day, and he does not cease studying the books of the Greeks as far as he can.” This is what he said in defence of his Greek training.
