τούτοις δῆτα συνέβαινε διακόνοις χρώμενον τὸν ἐπιχαιρεσίκακον δαίμονα τοὺς μὲν πρὸς αὐτῶν ἀπατωμένους οἰκτρῶς οὕτως εἰς ἀπώλειαν ἀνδραποδίζεσθαι, τοῖς δʼ ἀπίστοις ἔθνεσι πολλὴν παρέχειν κατὰ τοῦ θείου λόγου δυσφημίας περιουσίαν, τῆς ἐξ αὐτῶν φήμης εἰς τὴν τοῦ παντὸς ἔθνους Χριστιανῶν διαβολὴν καταχεομένης.

Using these men as ministers, the demon who rejoices in evil succeeded in miserably enslaving to destruction those deceived by them, and in providing the unbelieving nations with an abundance of slander against the divine word, since the report about them was poured out to the slander of the whole race of Christians.
