Φίλιππός γε μὴν, ὃν ἐκ τῶν Διονυσίου φωνῶν τῆς ἐν Γορτύνῃ παροικίας ἐπίσκοπον ἔγνωμεν, πάνυ γε σπουδαιότατον πεποίηται καὶ αὐτὸς κατὰ Μαρκίωνος λόγον, Εἰρηναῖος δὲ ὡσαύτως καὶ Μόδεστος, ὃς καὶ διαφερόντως παρὰ τοὺς ἄλλους τὴν τοῦ ἀνδρὸς εἰς ἔκδηλον τοῖς πᾶσι κατεφώρασε πλάνην, καὶ ἄλλοι δὲ πλείους, ὧν παρὰ πλείστοις τῶν ἀδελφῶν εἰσέτι νῦν οἱ πόνοι διαφυλάττονται.

English · Claude translation

Philip, whom we know from the words of Dionysius to be bishop of the community in Gortyna, also composed a most excellent treatise against Marcion, as did Irenaeus likewise, and Modestus, who more than the others exposed the man's error clearly to all; and many others too, whose works are still preserved among very many of the brothers.
