ὁ δὲ αὐτοκράτωρ ὑποπτεύσας καὶ τοὺς ἐν Μεσοποταμίᾳ Ἰουδαίους ἐπιθήσεσθαι τοῖς αὐτόθι Λουσίῳ Κυῄτῳ προσέταξεν ἐκκαθᾶραι τῆς ἐπαρχίας αὐτοὺς, ὃς καὶ παραταξάμενος πάμπολυ πλῆθος τῶν αὐτόθι φονεύει, ἐφʼ ᾧ κατορθώματι Ἰουδαίας ἡγεμὼν ὑπὸ τοῦ αὐτοκράτορος ἀνεδείχθη. ταῦτα καὶ Ἑλλήνων οἱ τὰ κατὰ τοὺς αὐτοὺς χρόνους γραφῇ παραδόντες αὐτοῖς ἱστόρησαν ῥήμασι.

English · Claude translation

The emperor, suspecting that the Jews in Mesopotamia also would attack the inhabitants there, ordered Lusius Quietus to clear them out of the province; he drew up his army and killed a very great multitude of those there, and for this success he was appointed governor of Judea by the emperor. These things the Greek writers who have recorded the events of the same times have related in these very words.
