Τούτου δὴ οὑν τοῦ Κλήμεντος ὁμολογουμένη μία ἐπιστολὴ φέρεται, μεγάλη τε καὶ θαυμασία, ἥν ὡς ἀπὸ τῆς Ῥωμαίων ἐκκλησίας τῇ Κορινθίων διετυπώσατο, στάσεως τηνικάδε κατὰ τὴν Κόρινθον γενομένης. ταύτην δὲ καὶ ἐν πλείσταις ἐκκλησίαις ἐπὶ τοῦ κοινοῦ δεδημοσιευμένην πάλαι τε καὶ καθʼ ἡμᾶς αὐτοὺς ἔγνωμεν. καὶ ὕτι γε κατὰ τὸν δηλούμενον τὰ τῆς Κορινθίων κεκίνητο στάσεως ἀξιόχρεως μάρτυς ὁ Ἡγήσιππος.

Of this Clement one acknowledged letter is extant, great and wonderful, which he composed in the name of the church of the Romans to that of the Corinthians, when a sedition had then arisen in Corinth. We know that this too has been read publicly in very many churches, both of old and in our own time. And that the sedition of the Corinthians was stirred up at the time indicated, Hegesippus is a trustworthy witness.
