ταῦτα μὲν οὗτος. συνᾴδει δʼ αὐτῷ καὶ ὁ Εἰρήναιος, ἐν πρώτῳ τῶν πρὸς τὰς αἱρέσεις ὁμοῦ τὰ περὶ τὸν ἄνδρα καὶ τὴν ἀνοσίαν καὶ μιαρὰν αὐτοῦ διδασκαλίαν ὑπογράφων, ἣν ἐπὶ τοῦ παρόντος περιττὸν ἂν εἴη καταλέγειν, παρὸν τοῖς βουλομένοις καὶ τῶν μετʼ αὐτὸν κατὰ μέρος αἱρεσιαρχῶν τὰς ἀρχὰς καὶ τοὺς βίους καὶ τῶν ψευδῶν δογμάτων τὰς ὑποθέσεις τά τε πᾶσιν αὐτοῖς ἐπιτετηδευμένα διαγνῶναι, οὐ κατὰ πάρεργον τῇ δεδηλωμένῃ τοῦ Εἰρηναίου παραδεδομένα βίβλῳ.

So much this writer. Irenaeus too agrees with him, describing in the first book of his work Against Heresies both the man and his unholy and foul teaching. It would be superfluous to recount it at present, since those who wish may learn in detail the origins, lives, and false principles of the heresiarchs after him, and the practices of them all, handed down with no little care in the book of Irenaeus mentioned.
