“τρίτον “ ἔτος αὐτῷ βασιλεύοντι τῆς ὅλης Ἰουδαίας πεπλήρωτο, καὶ παρῆν εἰς πόλιν Καισάρειαν, ἣ τὸ πρότρερον Στράτωνος πύργος ἐκαλεῖτο. συνετέλει δʼ ἐνταυθα θεωρίας εἰς τὴν Καίσαρος τιμὴν, ὑπὲρ τῆς ἐκείνου σωτηρίας ἑορτήν τινα ταύτην ἐπιστάμενος. καὶ παρʼ αὐτὴν ἤθροιστο τῶν κατὰ τὴν ἐπάρχιον ἐν ‘ καὶ προβεβηκότων εἰς ἀξίαν πλῆθος.

English · Claude translation

“The third year of his reign over all Judea had been completed, and he came to the city of Caesarea, which was formerly called Strato's Tower. There he held spectacles in honour of Caesar, knowing this to be a festival for his welfare. And at it there had gathered a multitude of those of rank and advanced in dignity throughout the province.
