κακουργουμένη σιτίοις καὶ ποτοῖς ἡ ψυχὴ βελτιοῦται· καὶ Χριστιανοὶ κολαζόμενοι καθʼ ἡμέραν πλεονάζουσι μᾶλλον.

The soul, when poorly treated in food and drink, becomes better; and Christians, when punished, increase day by day all the more.
