Notes

Translation notes

  • The cup comes before the bread (compare Luke 22:17–19).
  • “Servant” (παῖς): also “Child”; see Mart. Pol. 14.1.
  • “The holy vine of David”: perhaps the promise to David fulfilled in Christ, or God's people.

Notes on the original text

  • Digital text corrected (digitization slip against Lake's printed text (wrong breathing)): ἦς ἐγνώρισας ἡμῖν διὰ Ἰησοῦ τοῦ παιδός σου· σοὶ → ἧς ἐγνώρισας ἡμῖν διὰ Ἰησοῦ τοῦ παιδός σου· σοὶ.
