It is no harm, I think, to add to these the dates of the Roman emperors, to show the birth of the Savior. Augustus forty-three years, Tiberius twenty-two, Gaius four, Claudius fourteen, Nero fourteen, Galba one, Vespasian ten, Titus three, Domitian fifteen, Nerva one, Trajan nineteen, Hadrian twenty-one, Antoninus twenty-three, and again Antoninus and Commodus thirty-two. From Augustus to the death of Commodus comes to two hundred and twenty-two years in all, and from Adam to the death of Commodus five thousand seven hundred and eighty-four years, two months, and twelve days.
