1 Clement 30.3
Summary: Be humble and self-controlled, justified by deeds, not words.
English · Claude translation
Let us therefore join ourselves to those to whom grace has been given by God. Let us clothe ourselves with concord, being humble-minded and self-controlled, keeping ourselves far from all whispering and slander, being justified by works and not by words.

- “Justified by works and not by words”: the contrast is between deeds and empty talk; compare 32.4 on justification through faith, and Jas 2:24.
