Only the comment on Eph 5:21-33 (wives and husbands) is published; the rest of the commentary is not yet on the site.
- 5.21Theodoret explains that mutual subjection is owed only to those who live in piety, and that Paul's example of Christ and the church guides both wives and husbands.
- 5.25Theodoret urges husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church, explaining the washing as baptism in the Trinitarian name and the nourishing as the Eucharist.
- 5.31Theodoret explains “the two shall become one flesh” as the first law of marriage, applied by Paul also to Christ and the church, while still binding husbands and wives.
