1Candidus opens his reply to Victorinus by appending Arius's letter to Eusebius of Nicomedia, in which Arius complains of persecution by Bishop Alexander and states that the Son has a beginning and came from nothing.
2Candidus appends Eusebius of Nicomedia's letter to Paulinus, which argues from Proverbs 8 and other uses of “begot” that the Son was created by God's will and is not from the Father's substance.
