In his ergo state et domini exemplar sequimini, firmi in fide et immutabiles, fraternitatis amatores, diligentes invicem, in veritate sociati, mansuetudine domini alterutri praestolantes, nullum despicientes.

Stand fast, then, in these things and follow the example of the Lord, firm in faith and unchangeable, lovers of the brotherhood, loving one another, united in the truth, deferring to one another in the gentleness of the Lord, despising no one.

## Translation notes

- Chapters 10–12 and 14 survive only in a Latin translation; the Greek is lost.
- “Deferring to one another” (alterutri praestolantes): the Latin is obscure; literally “waiting for one another.”
- “Lovers of the brotherhood” (fraternitatis amatores): probably a rendering of Greek φιλάδελφοι.
