loquitur Plato: partes orbis nunc inundare dicit, nunc alternis uicibus ardescere, et cum ipsum mundum perpetuum et insolubilem diceret esse fabricatum, addidit tamen, ipsi artifici Deo soli et solubilem et esse mortalem.

Plato speaks of it: he says that parts of the world are now flooded, now burn by alternating turns; and though he said that the world itself was fashioned perpetual and indissoluble, he added nevertheless that to God its maker alone it is both dissoluble and mortal.
