Ἐγὼ δέ εἰμι σκώληξ καὶ οὐκ ἄνθρωπος, ὄνειδος ἀνθρώπων καὶ ἐξουθένημα λαοῦ. Πάντες οἱ θεωροῦντές με ἐξεμυκτήρισάν με, καὶ ἐλάλησαν χείλεσιν, ἐκίνησαν κεφαλήν· Ἤλπισεν ἐπὶ κύριον, ῥυσάσθω αὐτόν, σωσάτω αὐτόν, ὅτι θέλει αὐτόν. Ὅτι σὺ εἶ ὁ ἐκσπάσας με ἐκ γαστρός, ἡ ἐλπίς μου ἀπὸ μασθῶν τῆς μητρός μου· ἐπὶ σὲ ἐπερρίφην ἐκ μήτρας, ἀπὸ γαστρὸς μητρός μου θεός μου εἶ σύ. Μὴ ἀποστῇς ἀπʼ ἐμοῦ, ὅτι θλῖψις ἐγγύς, ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν ὁ βοηθῶν μοι.

“‘But I am a worm and no man, a reproach of men and despised by the people. All who saw me sneered at me; they spoke with their lips, they shook their heads: He hoped in the Lord; let him deliver him, let him save him, since he delights in him. For you are he who drew me out of the womb, my hope from my mother's breasts; I was cast upon you from the womb; from my mother's womb you are my God. Do not depart from me, for trouble is near, for there is none to help me.
