Κἀγὼ πρὸς αὐτόν· Εἰπόντος μου, ὦ ἄνθρωπε, τὰ λελεγμένα ὑπὸ τοῦ Ἰεζεκιήλ, ὅτι Κἂν Νῶε καὶ Δανιὴλ καὶ Ἰακὼβ ἐξαιτήσωνται υἱοὺς καὶ θυγατέρας, οὐ δοθήσεται αὐτοῖς, ἀλλʼ ἕκαστος τῇ αὐτοῦ δικαιοσύνῃ δηλονότι σωθήσεται, ὅτι καὶ τοὺς κατὰ τὸν νόμον τὸν Μωσέως πολιτευσαμένους ὁμοίως σωθήσεσθαι εἶπον. Καὶ γὰρ ἐν τῷ Μωσέως νόμῳ τὰ φύσει καλὰ καὶ εὐσεβῆ καὶ δίκαια νενομοθέτηται πράττειν τοὺς πειθομένους αὐτοῖς, καὶ πρὸς σκληροκαρδίαν δὲ τοῦ λαοῦ διαταχθέντα γίνεσθαι ὁμοίως ἀναγέγραπται, ἃ καὶ ἔπραττον οἱ ὑπὸ τὸν νόμον.

English · Claude translation

And I said to him, “When I quoted, sir, what was said by Ezekiel, that ‘Even if Noah and Daniel and Jacob ask for sons and daughters, it shall not be given them,’ but each will clearly be saved by his own righteousness, I said that those who lived according to the law of Moses would likewise be saved. For in the law of Moses those who obey it are commanded to do what is naturally good and pious and righteous; and there are also written things ordained to be done because of the hardness of heart of the people, which those under the law also did.
