From there, at the foot of that mountain, is a place called Sechim. There is the tomb where Ioseph was laid, in the estate that Iacob his father gave him. From there too Dina the daughter of Iacob was carried off by the sons of the Amorites. A mile from there is a place called Sechar, from which the Samaritan woman came down to the same place where Iacob dug the well, to fill her jar from it, and our Lord Jesus Christ spoke with her; there are also plane trees which Iacob planted, and a bath supplied from that well. From there, twenty-eight miles on, as one goes to Hierusalem, on the left side, is an estate called Bethar. A mile from there is the place where Iacob slept when he was going to Mesopotamia, and there is an almond tree there, and he saw a vision, and an angel wrestled with him.

Inde Hierusalem... milia XII. Fit a Caesarea Palestina Hierusalem usque milia CXVI, mutationes IIII, mutationes IIII. Ibi aegri multorum annorum sanabantur. Aqua autem habent hae piscinae in modum coccini turbatam.
There King Hieroboam lived, to whom a prophet was sent so that he would turn to God most high; and the prophet had been ordered not to eat with the false prophet whom the king had with him; and because he was deceived by the false prophet and ate with him on his way back, a lion met the prophet on the road and the lion killed him. From there to Hierusalem, 12 miles. From Caesarea Palestina to Hierusalem it makes 116 miles, 4 changes (of horses), 4 changes (of horses). In Hierusalem there are two large pools beside the temple, that is, one on the right, the other on the left, which Salomon made; and further inside the city are twin pools, having five porticoes, which are called Betsaida. There the sick of many years used to be healed. These pools have water that is stirred up and reddish, like scarlet.

590CSEL 39:21
There is also the crypt where Salomon used to torture demons. There is the corner of a very high tower, where the Lord went up, and he who was tempting him said to him … And the Lord said to him: "You shall not tempt the Lord your God, but him only shall you serve." There is also the great cornerstone of which it was said: "The stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner." And under the pinnacle of that tower are many chambers, where Salomon had his palace. There too stands the chamber in which he sat and wrote down wisdom; that chamber is roofed with a single stone.

There are also great underground cisterns for water and pools built with great labour. And in the very building where the temple stood, which Salomon built, on the marble before the altar you would say that the blood of Zacharias was shed there today; the marks of the nails of the soldiers who killed him also appear all over the area, so that you would think they were pressed into wax. There are also two statues of Hadrian there, and not far from the statues is a pierced stone, to which the Jews come every year and anoint it, and lament with groaning, and tear their clothes, and so go away. There is also the house of Ezechias, king of Judah.

592CSEL 39:22
Likewise, as you go out of Hierusalem to climb Sion, on the left side and down in the valley beside the wall is a pool called Silua; it has four porticoes; and there is another great pool outside. This spring runs for six days and nights, but the seventh day is the sabbath: it does not run at all, neither by night nor by day. By the same way one climbs Sion, and it is clear where the house of Caiaphas the priest was, and the column is still there at which they beat Christ with scourges. Inside, within the wall of Sion, can be seen the place where David had his palace. And of the seven synagogues that were there, only one remains; the rest are ploughed and sown, as the prophet Isaias said.

From there, as you go outside the wall from Sion, going to the Neapolitan gate, on the right side down in the valley are walls where the house or praetorium of Pontius Pilate was; there the Lord was heard before he suffered; and on the left side is the little hill Golgotha, where the Lord was crucified.

From there, about a stone's throw away, is the crypt where his body was laid and he rose on the third day; there now, by order of the emperor Constantine, a basilica has been built, that is, a church of the Lord, of wonderful beauty, having at its side cisterns from which water is drawn, and behind it a bath where infants are washed. Likewise, as you go from Hierusalem to the gate that faces east, to climb the Mount of Olives, is the valley called Iosafath;

on the left side, where the vineyards are, there is also the rock where Iudas Scarioth betrayed Christ, and on the right side is a palm tree from which the children took branches and strewed them as Christ came. Not far from there, about a stone's throw, are two monuments of wonderful beauty: in one, which is truly a monolith, the prophet Isaias was laid, and in the other Ezechias, king of the Jews. From there you climb the Mount of Olives, where the Lord taught the apostles before his passion. There a basilica has been built by order of Constantine. Not far from there is the little hill where the Lord went up to pray and Moyses and Helias appeared there, when he took Peter and John with him.

A ciuitate passos mille quingentos est ibi fons Helisei prophetae.
From there, fifteen hundred paces to the east, is the village called Bethania. There is the crypt where Lazarus was laid, whom the Lord raised. Likewise from Hierusalem to Hiericho, 18 miles. As you go down the mountain, on the right side, behind a tomb, is the sycamore tree which Zachaeus climbed to see Christ. Fifteen hundred paces from the city is the spring of the prophet Heliseus. Formerly, if any woman drank of this water, she did not bear children. At the side is an earthenware vessel. Helyseus put salt in it, and came and stood over the spring and said: "Thus says the Lord: I have healed these waters"; since then, if any woman drinks from it, she will bear children.

Above the same spring is the house of Rachab the prostitute, to whom the spies came in and she hid them, when Hiericho was overthrown, and she alone escaped. There was the city of Hiericho, whose walls the sons of Israel went round with the ark of the covenant, and the walls fell. Of it nothing can be seen except the place where the ark of the covenant was and the twelve stones which the sons of Israel took up from the Jordan. In the same place Jesus son of Naue circumcised the sons of Israel and buried their foreskins. Likewise from Hiericho to the Dead Sea, 9 miles. Its water is extremely bitter; there is no fish of any kind in it at all, nor any ship, and if any person throws himself in to swim, the water itself turns him over.

Inde milia duo a parte sinistra est Bethleem.
From there to the Jordan, where the Lord was baptized by John, 5 miles. There is a place above the river, a little hill on that bank, where Helias was caught up into heaven. Likewise, as you go from Hierusalem to Bethleem, 4 miles, beside the road on the right side is the tomb where Rachel, the wife of Iacob, was laid. Two miles from there, on the left side, is Bethleem. Where the Lord Jesus Christ was born, a basilica has been built there by order of Constantine; not far from there is the tomb of Ezechihel, Asaph, Iob, and Iesse, David, Salomon, and in that crypt, at the side, as you go down, the names written above are written in Hebrew letters.
