ἤγετό τις εἰς μέσον κατὰ τὴν προειρημένην πόλιν ἐφʼ ὧν δεδηλώκαμεν ἀρχόντων. θύειν δὴ οὖν προσταχθεὶς, ὡς ἐνίστατο, γυμνὸς μετάρσιος ἀρθῆναι κελεύεται, μάστιξί τε τὸ πᾶν σῶμα καταξαίνεσθαι, εἰσότε ἡττηθεὶς κἂν ἄκων τὸ προσταττόμενον ποιήσειεν.

English · Claude translation

A certain man was brought forward in the city already mentioned, before the rulers we have named. Being ordered to sacrifice, and refusing, he was commanded to be stripped, raised aloft, and have his whole body torn with scourges until, overcome, he would do what was commanded even against his will.
