μεταξὺ τῶν λοιπῶν, ἅπερ ὑπὲρ τοῦ “χρησίμου καὶ λυσιτελοῦς τοῖς δημοσίοις διατυπού- “μεθα, ἡμεῖς μὲν βεβουλήμεθα πρότερον κατὰ τοὺς “ἀρχαίους νόμους καὶ τὴν δημοσίαν ἐπιστήμην τὴν “τῶν ἅπαντα ἐπανορθώσασθαι, καὶ τού- “του πρόνοιαν ποιήσασθαι, ἵνα καὶ οἱ Χριστιανοὶ, “οἵτινες τῶν γονέων τῶν ἑαυτῶν καταλελοίπασι τὴν “αἵρεσιν, εἰς ἀγαθὴν πρόθεσιν ἐπανέλθοιεν·

“Among the other measures that we are enacting for the advantage and profit of the public, we had earlier wished to set everything right in accordance with the ancient laws and the public discipline of the Romans, and to make provision that the Christians too, who had abandoned the way of their own ancestors, should return to a good disposition.
