λέγων δὲ πάνυ τι τὴν ψυχὴν νῦν κατανενύχθαι, καὶ μηδὲ παρρησίαν ‟ἔχειν ἐπᾶραι τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς πρὸς τὸν θεὸν, ἀπὸ ‟τῶν ἀνοσίων ἐκείνων ῥημάτων καὶ πραγμάτων ὁρ- ‟μώμενος· καὶ διὰ τοῦτο δεόμενος τῆς εἰλικρινεστάτης ‟ταύτης καθάρσεως καὶ παραδοχῆς καὶ χάριτος τυχεῖν. ‟

He said that his soul was now deeply pierced, and that he had no boldness even to lift up his eyes to God, having started from those unholy words and deeds; and therefore he asked to receive this most pure cleansing, reception, and grace.
