τοῦ πυροῦ, φασὶ, τοῖς πολιορκουμένοις ἐπιλελοιπότος, ὡς ἤδη τῶν ἔξωθεν πολεμίων μᾶλλον αὐτοῖς τὸν λιμὸν ἀφόρητον καθεστάναι, παρὼν ὁ δηλούμενος οἰκονομεῖταί τι τοιοῦτον. θατέρου μέρους τῆς πόλεως τῷ Ῥωμαϊκῷ συμμαχοῦντος στρατῷ, ταύτῃ τε τυγχάνοντος ἀπολιορκήτου, τὸν Εὐσέβιον ἔτι γὰρ εἶναι τότε αὐτόθι πρὸ τῆς ἐπὶ Συρίαν μεταναστάσεως) ἐν τοῖς ἀπολιορκήτοις ὄντα, μέγα τε κλέος καὶ διαβόητον ὄνομα μέχρι καὶ τοῦ Ῥωμαίων στρατηλάτου κεκτημένον, περὶ τῶν λιμῷ διαφθειρομένων κατὰ τὴν πολιορκίαν πέμψας ὁ Ἀνατόλιος ἐκδιδάσκει.

English · Claude translation

When the grain, they say, had failed the besieged, so that famine had become more unbearable to them than the enemies outside, the man in question, being present, arranged something like this. Since the other part of the city was fighting alongside the Roman army and was therefore not besieged, Anatolius sent word about those perishing of famine in the siege to Eusebius — for he was still there then, before his move to Syria — who was among those not besieged and had a great reputation and famous name reaching even to the Roman general.
