ἔτεσι γοῦν ἓξ κρατήσαντα τὸν Αὐρηλιανὸν διαδέχεται Πρόβος, καὶ τοῦτον δέ που τοῖς ἴσοις ἐπικατασχόντα Κᾶρος ἅμα παισὶ Καρίνῳ καὶ Νουμεριανῷ· πάλιν τʼ αὖ καὶ τούτων οὐδʼ ὅλοις τρισὶν ἐνιαυτοῖς διαγενομένων μέτεισι τὰ τῆς ἡγεμονίας εἰς Διοκλητιανὸν καὶ τοὺς μετʼ αὐτὸν εἰσποιηθέντας, ἐφʼ ὧν ὁ καθʼ ἡμᾶς συντελεῖται διωγμός καὶ ἡ κατʼ αὐτὸν τῶν ἐκκλησιῶν καθαίρεσις.
English · Claude translation
Aurelian, having reigned six years, was succeeded by Probus; and he, having ruled about as many, by Carus with his sons Carinus and Numerian. And again, when these had lasted not even three whole years, the government passed to Diocletian and those associated with him, under whom the persecution of our time was accomplished and the destruction of the churches in it.
