Οὐδὲν δὲ οἷον τὸ καὶ τούτων ὧδέ πως ἔχόντων ἀκοῦσαι· “ἐκεῖνος μὲν “οὖν τῶν πρὸ αὐτοῦ βασιλέων τὸν μὲν προέμενος, “τῷ δὲ ἐπιθέμενος, παγγενῆ ταχέως καὶ πρόρριζος “ἐξηφανίσθη· ἀνεδείχθη δὲ καὶ συνανωμολογήθη “παρὰ πάντων ὁ Γαλλιηνὸς, παλαιὸς ἅμα βασιλεὺς “καὶ νέος, πρῶτος ὢν καὶ μετʼ ἐκείνους παρών.

There is nothing like hearing how these things too stood: “He, then, having betrayed one of the emperors before him and attacked the other, was quickly destroyed root and branch with all his family; and Gallienus was proclaimed and acknowledged by all, at once an old emperor and a new one, being first and yet present after them.
