οἱ γοῦν ἄριστοι τῶν παρʼ ἡμῖν ἀδελ- “φῶν τοῦτον τὸν τρόπον ἐξεχώρησαν τοῦ βίου, πρεσ- “βύτεροί τέ τινες καὶ διάκονοι καὶ τῶν ἀπὸ τοῦ λαοῦ “λίαν ἐπαινούμενοι, ὡς καὶ τοῦ θανάτου τοῦτο τὸ “εἶδος διὰ πολλὴν εὐσέβειαν καὶ πίστιν ἰσχυρὰν γε- “νόμενον μηδὲν ἀποδεῖν μαρτυρίου δοκεῖν.

In this way the best of our brothers departed this life, some presbyters and deacons and some of the people, highly praised, so that this form of death, arising from great piety and strong faith, seems in no way to fall short of martyrdom.
