Διονύσιος ἀπεκρίνατο· οὐ πάντες πάντας “προσκυνοῦσι θεοὺς, ἀλλʼ ἕκαστοι τινὰς, οὓς νομί- “ζουσιν. ἡμεῖς τοίνυν τὸν ἕνα θεὸν, τὸν δημιουργὸν “τῶν ἁπάντων, τὸν καὶ τὴν βασιλείαν ἐγχειρίσαντα ‟τοῖς θεοφιλεστάτοις Οὐαλεριανῷ καὶ Γαλλιηνῷ “σεβαστοῖς, τοῦτον καὶ σέβομεν καὶ προσκυνοῦμεν, “καὶ τούτῳ διηνεκῶς ὑπὲρ τῆς βασιλείας αὐτῶν, “ὅπως ἀσάλευτος διαμένῃ, προσευχόμεθα.

Dionysius answered: ‘Not all men worship all gods, but each worship some whom they believe in. We therefore worship and adore the one God, the Creator of all things, who also entrusted the empire to the most God-beloved Augusti Valerian and Gallienus; and to him we pray continually for their empire, that it may remain unshaken.’
