τὰ γὰρ καθʼ ἡμᾶς ἐπειδὴ πυνθάνεσθε καὶ βούλεσθε δηλωθῆναι ὑμῖν ὅπως διάγομεν, ἠκούσατε ‟μὲν πάντως ὅπως ἡμᾶς δεσμώτας ἀπαγομένους ὑπὸ “ἑκατοντάρχου καὶ στρατηγῶν καὶ τῶν σὺν αὐτοῖς στρατιωτῶν καὶ ὑπηρετῶν, ἐμέ τε καὶ Γάϊον καὶ ‟Φαῦστον καὶ Πέτρον καὶ Παῦλον, ἐπελθόντες τινὲς ‟τῶν Μαρεωτῶν ἄκοντας καὶ μηδὲ ἑπομένους, βίᾳ ‟τε σύροντες ἀφήρπασαν.

For since you ask about our affairs and wish to be told how we are doing, you have surely heard how, when we were being led away as prisoners by a centurion and magistrates and the soldiers and attendants with them — I, Gaius, Faustus, Peter, and Paul — some of the people of Mareotis came upon us and, though we were unwilling and would not follow, dragged us off by force and carried us away.
