πολλοὶ δὲ οἶ κατʼ αὐτὸ τὸ “Ἀραβικὸν ὄρος ἐξανδραποδισθέντες ὑπὸ “Σαρακηνῶν, οἱ μὲν μόλις ἐπὶ πολλοῖς χρήμασιν “ἐλυτρώθησαν, οἶ δὲ μέχρι καὶ νῦν οὐδέπω. καὶ ταῦτα διεξῆλθον οὐ μάτην, ἀδελφὲ, ἀλλʼ ἔνα εἰδῇς “ὅσα καὶ ἡλίκα δεινὰ παρʼ ἡμῖν συνέβη· ὧν οἶ μᾶλλον πεπειραμένοι πλείονα ἂν εἰδεῖεν.’

English · Claude translation

Many on that same Arabian mountain were enslaved by the barbarous Saracens; some were ransomed with difficulty for large sums, others not even yet. I have related these things not in vain, brother, but so that you may know how many and how great the terrors were that happened among us; those who experienced them more would know more.”
