μνημονεύει γέ τοι καὶ αὐτὸς ὁ Ἀλέξανδρος ἐν ἰδίαις ἐπιστολαῖς ταῖς πρὸς Ἀντινοείτας εἰσέτι νῦν παρʼ ἡμῖν σωζομέναις τῆς Ναρκίσσου σὺν αὐτῷ προεδρίας, ταῦτα κατὰ λέξιν ἐπὶ τέλει γράφων τῆς ἐπιστολῆς ἀσπάζεται ὑμᾶς Νάρκισσος, ὁ πρὸ ἐμοῦ διέπων τὸν τόπον τῆς ἐπισκοπῆς τὸν ἐνθάδε, καὶ νῦν συνεξεταζόμενός μοι διὰ τῶν εὐχῶν, ἑκατὸν δεκαὲξ ἔτη ἠνυκὼς, παρακαλῶν ὑμᾶς ὁμοίως ἐμοὶ ὁμοφρονῆσαι

Alexander himself, in his own letters to the Antinoites, still preserved by us, mentions that Narcissus held the presidency together with him, writing thus word for word at the end of the letter: “Narcissus greets you, who held the place of the episcopate here before me and is now associated with me in the prayers, having completed a hundred and sixteen years, and he exhorts you, as I do, to be of one mind.”
