ὁ δέ γε θεοφιλέστατος μάρτυς, πολλὰ λιπαρῶς ἱκετεύσαντος τοῦ δικαστοῦ καὶ λόγον αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τῆς συγκλήτου βουλῆς αἰτήσαντος, λογιωτάτην ὑπὲρ ἧς ἐμαρτύρει πίστεως ἐπὶ πάντων παρασχὼν ἀπολογίαν κεφαλικῇ κολάσει ὡσὰν ἀπὸ δόγματος συγκλήτου τελειοῦται, μηδʼ ἄλλως ἀφεῖσθαι τοὺς ἅπαξ εἰς δικαστήριον παριόντας καὶ μηδαμῶς τῆς προθέσεως μεταβαλλομένους ἀρχαίου παρʼ αὐτοῖς νόμου κεκρατηκότος.

But the most God-beloved martyr, when the judge earnestly entreated him and asked him to give an account before the senate, gave before all a most learned defence of the faith for which he bore witness, and was perfected by beheading, as by decree of the senate; for an ancient law prevailed among them that those who had once come before a court and in no way changed their purpose should not otherwise be released.
