Κατὰ δὲ τὸν αὐτὸν τῆς Κομόδου βασιλείας χρόνον μεταβέβλητο μὲν ἐπὶ τὸ πρᾶον τὰ καθʼ ἡμᾶς, εἰρήνης σὺν θείᾳ χάριτι τὰς καθʼ ὅλης τῆς οἰκουμένης διαλαβούσης ἐκκλησίας, ὅτε καὶ ὁ σωτήριος λόγος ἐκ παντὸς γένους ἀνθρώπων πᾶσαν ὑπήγετο ψυχὴν ἐπὶ τὴν εὐσεβῆ τοῦ τῶν ὅλων θεοῦ θρησκείαν, ὥστε ἤδη καὶ τῶν ἐπὶ Ῥώμης εὖ μάλα πλούτῳ καὶ γένει διαφανῶν πλείους ἐπὶ τὴν σφῶν ὁμόσε χωρεῖν πανοικί τε καὶ παγγενῆ σωτηρίαν.

English · Claude translation

About the same time, in the reign of Commodus, our situation changed to a milder state, and by divine grace peace took hold of the churches throughout the whole world. Then too the saving word was leading every soul from every race of men to the pious worship of the God of the universe, so that now many at Rome, very distinguished in wealth and birth, came with all their household and kin to their salvation.
