διʼ ἐκείνων γὰρ οἱ πλείους τῶν ἠρνημένων ἀνεμητροῦντο καὶ ἀνεκυίσκοντο καὶ “ἀνεζωπυροῦντο καὶ ἐμάνθανον ὁμολογεῖν, καὶ ζῶν- “τες ἤδη καὶ τετονωμένοι προσῄεσαν τῷ βήματι, ἐγ- “γλυκαίνοντος τοῦ τὸν μὲν θάνατον τοῦ ἁμαρτωλοῦ “μὴ βουλομένου, ἐπὶ δὲ τὴν μετάνοιαν χρηστευομένου “θεοῦ, ἵνα καὶ πάλιν ἐπερωτηθῶσιν ὑπὸ τοῦ ἡγεμό- “νος.

English · Claude translation

For through them most of those who had denied were conceived again in the womb, quickened again, and rekindled, and learned to confess; and now alive and braced they came to the tribunal, God, who does not desire the death of the sinner but is kind toward repentance, making it sweet for them, so that they might again be questioned by the governor.
