ἑκατόνταρχον “εἰς δεσμὰ ἐμβαλόντα τὸν Πτολεμαῖον, φίλον αὐτῷ “ὑπάρχοντα, ἔπεισε λαβέσθαι τοῦ Πτολεμαίου καὶ ἀνερωτῆσαι εἰ, αὐτὸ τοῦτο μόνον, Χριστιανός ἐστι. “καὶ τὸν Πτολεμαῖον φιλαλήθη, ἀλλʼ οὐκ ἀπατηλὸν “ οὐδὲ ψευδολόγον τὴν γνώμην ὄντα, ὁμολογήσαντα ἑαυτὸν εἶναι Χριστιανὸν, ἐν δεσμοῖς γενέσθαι ὁ “ ἑκατόνταρχος πεποίηκε, καὶ ἐπὶ πολὺν χρόνον ἐν “ τῷ δεσμωτηρίῳ ἐκολάσατο.

English · Claude translation

He persuaded a centurion who was a friend of his to throw Ptolemaeus into prison, to seize him, and to ask him only this, whether he was a Christian. And when Ptolemaeus, being a lover of truth and not of a deceitful or lying disposition, confessed himself to be a Christian, the centurion had him put in bonds and punished him for a long time in the prison.
