ὅτι δὲ κατὰ τὴν αὐτοῦ πρόρρησιν πρὸς τοῦ Κρίσκεντος συσκευασθεὶς ἐτελειώθη, Τατιανὸς ἀνὴρ τὸν πρῶτον αὐτοῦ βίον σοφιστεύσας ἐν τοῖς Ἑλλήνων μαθήμασι, καὶ δόξαν οὐ σμικρὰν ἐν αὐτοῖς ἀπενηνεγμένος, πλεῖστά τε συγγράμμασιν αὐτοῦ καταλιπὼν μνημεῖα, έν τῷ πρὸς Ἕλληνας ἱστορεῖ λέγων ὧδέ πως “ καὶ ὁ θαυμασιώτατος Ἰουστῖνος ὀρ- “θῶς ἐξεφώνησεν ἐοικέναι τοὺς προειρημένους λῃσταῖς.”

That he was perfected according to his own prediction through the machinations of Crescens, Tatian relates, a man who in his early life taught as a sophist in the learning of the Greeks and won no small fame in it, and left very many memorials in his writings; in his work Against the Greeks he says thus: “And the most wonderful Justin rightly declared that the aforesaid were like brigands.”
