  • The quotation (4.13.1–7) is the so-called Rescript of Antoninus to the Council of Asia, also appended to Justin's Apology; most scholars regard it as spurious or heavily reworked, though a few defend an authentic core. Eusebius attributes it to Antoninus Pius, but the titles given are those of Marcus Aurelius.
