τῆς θείας ἐπισκοπῆς εἰσέτι τότε μακροθυμούσης, εἰ ἄρα ποτὲ δυνηθεῖεν ἐφʼ οἷς ἔδρασαν μετανοήσαντες συγγνώμης καὶ σωτηρίας τυχεῖν, καὶ πρὸς τῇ τοσαύτῃ μακρο- θυμίᾳ παραδόξους θεοσημίας τῶν μελλόντων αὐτοῖς μὴ μετανοήσασι συμβήσεσθαι παρασχομένης. ἃ καὶ αὐτὰ μνήμης ἠξιωμένα πρὸς τοῦ δεδηλωμένου συγγραφέως οὐδὲν οἷον τοῖς τῇδε προσιοῦσι τῇ γραφῇ παραθεῖναι.

English · Claude translation

while divine oversight was still being patient, in case they might at some time repent of what they had done and obtain pardon and salvation; and besides such long-suffering, it provided wonderful signs from God of what would befall them if they did not repent. Since these too have been thought worthy of record by the historian mentioned, there is nothing like setting them before the readers of this work.
