ἀπογνοὺς δὲ τελέως τὴν ἐν θεῷ σω– “τηρίαν οὐδὲν ἔτι μικρὸν διενοεῖτο, ἀλλὰ μέγα τι “πράξας, έπειδήπερ ἄπαξ, άπολώλει, ἴσa τοῖς ἄλλοις “παθεῖν ήξίον. Αὐτοὺς δὴ τούτονς άναλαβὼν καὶ λῳ– “στήριον σνγκροτήσας ἕτοιμος λᾐσταρχος ἦν, βιαιό- "τατος, μιαιφονώτατος, χαλεπώτατος.

Utterly despairing of salvation in God, he no longer thought of anything small, but, having done something great, since he was lost once for all, he thought it right to suffer the same as the others. So he took these very men and formed a band of brigands, and was a ready brigand chief, most violent, most bloodthirsty, most cruel.
