Πολύς γε μὴν τῷ λόγῳ καὶ πλατὺς ταῖς διανοίαις, ὑψηλός τε ὢν καὶ μετέωρος ἐν ταῖς εἰς τὰς θείας γραφὰς θεωρίαις γεγενημένος, ποικίλην καὶ πολύτροπον τῶν ἱερῶν λόγων πεποίηται τὴν ὑφήγησιν· τοῦτο μὲν εἱρμῷ καὶ ἀκολουθίᾳ, τὴν τῶν εἰς τὴν γένεσιν διεξελθὼν πραγματείαν, ἐν οἶς ἐπέγραψε νόμων ἱερῶν ἀλληγορίαις, τοῦτο δὲ, κατὰ μέρος διαστολὰς κεφαλαίων τῶν ἐν ταῖς γραφαῖς ζητουμένων, ἐπιστάσεις τε καὶ διαλύσεις ποιούμενος, ἐν οἷς καὶ αὐτοῖς καταλλήλως τῶν έν γενέσει καὶ τῶν ἐν ἐξαγωγῇ ζητημάτων τε καὶ λύσεων τέθειται τὴν ἐπιγραφήν.

Copious in language and broad in thought, lofty and sublime in his contemplations on the divine Scriptures, he produced a varied and manifold exposition of the sacred books. On the one hand, in sequence and order, he went through the treatment of the matters in Genesis in the books he entitled Allegories of the Sacred Laws; on the other hand, he made particular divisions of the chapters in dispute in the Scriptures, with statements of problems and solutions, in the books to which he also appropriately gave the title Questions and Solutions in Genesis and in Exodus.
