ἠφάνιστο μὲν δὴ καθʼ ὅν δεδήλωται τρόπον πᾶν τὸ τῶν θεομισῶν γένος, καὶ τῆς ἀνθρώπων ἀθρόως ὄψεως οὕτως ἐξαλήλειπτο ὡς πάλιν ῥῆμα θεῖον τέλος ἔχειν τὸ λέγον “εἶδον ἀσεβῆ ὑπερυψούμενον καὶ ἐπαιρόμενον ὡς τὰς κέδρους τοῦ Λιβάνου· καὶ παρῆλθον, καὶ ἰδοὺ οὐκ ἦν, καὶ ἐζήτησα τὸν τόπον αὐτοῦ, καὶ οὐχ εὑρέθη·”

English · Claude translation

The whole race of the God-haters had been destroyed in the manner described, and so suddenly blotted out from human sight that again a divine saying was fulfilled, which says: “I saw the ungodly exalted and lifted up like the cedars of Lebanon; and I passed by, and behold, he was not; and I sought his place, and it was not found.”
