ἀναγράπτων δὲ εἰς τότε ἐν τοῖς ἀρχείοις “ὄντων τῶν Ἑβραϊκῶν γενῶν, καὶ τῶν ἀρχιπροση- “λύτων ἀναφερομένων ἕως Ἀχιὼρ τοῦ Ἀμμανίτου καὶ “῾Ροὺθ τῆς Μωαβίτιδος, τῶν τε ἀπʼ Αἰγύπτου συνεκ- “πεσόντων ἐπιμίκτων, ὁ Ἡρώδης οὐδέν τι συμβαλ- “λομένου τοῦ τῶν Ἰσραηλιτῶν γένους αὐτῷ, καὶ τῷ “συνειδότι τῆς δυσγενείας κρουόμενος, ἐνέπρησεν αὐ- “τῶν τὰς ἀναγραφὰς τῶν γενῶν, οἰόμενος εὐγενὴς “ἀναφανεῖσθαι τῷ μηδὲ ἄλλον ἔχειν ἐκ δημοσίου συγ- “ γραφῆς τὸ γένος ἀνάγειν ἐπὶ τοὺς πατριάρχας ἢ “ προσηλύτους, τούς τε καλουμένους γειώρας τοὺς “ ἐπιμίκτους.
